ORONO – University Credit Union recognizes the achievements of Amanda Allen, Madison Gray and Carla Theriault, who completed CUNA’s Financial Counseling Program (FiCEP) and earned the Certified Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation.

Accredited by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), FiCEP equips credit union employees with the skills and knowledge to guide their members toward sound financial decisions. Employees who pass the FiCEP exam earn the CCUFC designation. FiCEP covers a wide range of financial education topics, from savings principles, to understanding types of debt, identity theft and more.

“We understand that money can be a sensitive topic and not everyone has experienced the same degree or quality of financial education,” said UCU President and CEO Renee. Ouellette. “By equipping our professionals with the skills to increase members’ financial confidence, we are creating an environment where members can feel comfortable asking questions while accessing the products and services needed to achieve their goals.”

Allen, Gray and Theriault join UCU’s current roster of Certified Credit Union Financial Advisors, alongside Almost Isle-based Community Engagement Manager Jenn Deschene and Community Engagement Manager Lesley Ridge based in Portland.

Allen is branch manager of UCU’s 15 Main Street headquarters in Orono. Allen joined UCU in July 2006 and over the past 15 years has held a variety of retail and operations roles, including as Assistant Branch Manager at 15 Main Street.

Gray joined UCU in 2010 as a Member Service Representative at 391 Forest Avenue. She then gained promotions to MSR Supervisor, then to Assistant Branch Manager and, since 2019, leads the team at 391 Forest Avenue as Branch Manager.

Theriault leads the team of UCU Video Cashier Representatives servicing all UCU locations as Video Branch Manager, based at the 15 Main Street Head Office. She joined UCU over 10 years ago and has held retail and collections positions for the credit union.
