Two Toronto men are accused of running a fraudulent scheme involving the buying and selling of high-end items online.

Toronto police say the couple – who allegedly operated social media accounts under the pseudonym ‘suprano_paris’ – used stolen credit card data to purchase luxury goods from various well-known retailers.

“The luxury goods were then sold at discounted prices through social media accounts,” police alleged on Wednesday.

Investigators believe the accused also used the pseudonyms of Dan Suprano and Paris Cavani.

Dan Kabuanga, 25, and Daris Douceur Niyonkuru Ruta, 27 were arrested on November 26, 2021 and face an assortment of related charges.

“Investigators wish to remind the public to be careful when using credit cards to make purchases online and to only do so through trusted and secure websites,” police said. “Investigators also wish to caution the public against purchasing new luxury goods sold at discounted prices from sellers other than recognized retailers.”
