India is an agricultural country, but due to poor harvest and seasonal conditions, farmers have been forced to take loans at high interest rate from lenders. The Indian government has introduced the kisan credit card scheme for farmers to meet their credit needs. This program was introduced in 1998 to provide short-term credit to farmers in agriculture, fisheries and livestock by NABARD. The Kisan credit card saves farmers from high interest loans from banks because its interest rate is very low, around 2% to 4%. Here is a step by step guide for online and offline application of kisan credit card.

Key Features of Kisan Credit Card

  • This scheme provides farmers with a credit for their financial expenses related to farming and post-harvest expenses.
  • It provides credit for investment purposes for their agricultural equipment.
  • Up to Rs 3 lakh can be taken as a loan under KCC.
  • Under the KCC scheme, holders are eligible for death or disability insurance up to Rs 50,000 and for other risks up to Rs 25,000.
  • A smart card and a debit card are issued under a savings account.

  • The program offers credit for a period of 3 years.

  • Completed and signed application form with all required documents.
  • Required Documents – copy of ID card such as aadhar card, voter card etc. Copy of proof of address such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter card, driving license The proof must have the current address of the applicant to become valid.

How to Apply for the Kisan Credit Card

You can apply for a kisan credit card online and offline
On line

  • Go to the official website of the bank you want to apply
  • Select Kisan credit card
  • Click apply and complete the form
  • Click Submit.

Offline

  • KCC scheme can be applied offline
  • Go to a bank branch
  • Complete the form at the bank with the help of the bank representative
  • Submit all required documents along with the form
