April 9, 2022 – The EFSC Foundation’s 6th Annual Backyard BBQ Cook-Off and Family Fest, held on the Melbourne campus on Saturday, has raised over $100,000 for scholarships for Eastern Florida State College.
In addition to BBQ samples, attendees enjoyed a day filled with live music, vendors, children’s activities and the Red, White and Wheels Car Show, a co-hosted fundraising event. by the Collegiate Veterans Society for the benefit of veteran students attending EFSC.
Nearly 1,500 people purchased $10 tickets to attend the outdoor barbecue, with profits soaring thanks to the generosity of the event’s many sponsors, including Grand Champion Community Sponsors Credit Union and Carroll Distributing; Presenting Sponsor Glover, Orndorf and Flanagan; and Pitmaster sponsors Health First, Barnes & Noble, AMKO and AJAX.
“We are so grateful to all of the sponsors, volunteers, teams and participants who came out to support the scholarships,” said Tonya Cherry, Executive Director of Operations for the EFSC Foundation.
“It was a great day. We couldn’t be happier with the results and can’t wait to do it again next year.”
Congratulations to this year’s BBQ Cook-Off winning teams who took home bragging rights and cash prizes ranging from $250 to $1,000 for Grand Champion.
